The Flag is a book of illustrations about the 10th Presidential elections in Iran, held on 23rd June, 2009. The elections were widely believed to have been rigged in favour of the incumbent President, resulting in his re-election for a second period of office. The initial hope by many that the unpopular President would be voted out was replaced by dismay and anger. The subsequent protests were dealt with brutally by the security forces.

The book contains illustrations which depict the events leading up to, and the period after, the elections. The selected colours in the book are significant because green was a symbolic colour selected by the Opposition for its campaign, and red signifies blood and loss of life. Additionally, green, white and red are the colours of the Iranian flag which was chosen by the President for his campaign.
A copy of this book is in Winchester School of Art’s Handmade book collection Library.
